Famous Black Heroes - A KS1 competition for schools. Find out more about these four people from history, and enter an art competition! Win a £10.00 gift token - and a book for your school! |
|||||
Instructions for teachers: Read the story of one or more of the four people to the class, and encourage them to think about why this person is an important person in history, and what they achieved. Pupils can then submit their pictures and art work. Use any medium of your choice - eg crayon, paint, collage ... to create 2-D art work. (3-D models are not eligible). Resources: On the picture gallery, each picture is linked to a web-site, with a simple story about their lives. These can be used either by the pupils themselves, or as a teacher resource. There are also many good books available where you can find biographies of these four people, suitable for reading aloud at KS1. Competition entries should be sent to the irespect website, where they will be published online as part of Black History Month celebrations. The best entry will win a £10.00 gift voucher, and the winning pupil's school will receive a book.
