The Competition

There are two parts to the competition: a quiz, and a poster competition.

A photo-gallery of 9 famous Black Heroes.

Pupils should find out about the lives of the people featured in the photogallery, and answer the questions:

  • You have to click on the pictures to link to a web-site where you can find out who they are, and more about them.
  • Then answer these questions for each of the 9 Heroes.
Who are they?

Why are they famous?

Go to photogallery

Download Worksheet 1 and fill in answers.

Who is your Black Hero?

  • Choose the person whom you most admire from the 9 people in the photo-gallery.
  • Find out as much as you can about them. Then produce an A4 poster. Your poster could include photos/pictures, art work, a timeline, brief biography, ... use your imagination!

Your competition answers and A4 poster should be sent to the irespect website, where they will be published online as part of Black History Month celebrations. The best entry will win a £10.00 gift voucher - and a book for your school library.
