Comments about the Equalities Week Event

Sheraleen:  “I was a bit scared.  I’m normally shy.  That was the first time I’ve stood up in front of that many people.

“Mum put the certificate in a big vanity case where she keeps things like my first lock of hair.

“Leanne couldn’t say the Romany word for shoes which is something like ‘chokkas’.  She kept saying ‘chocolate’.  We all laughed.

“Afterwards people came up to us and asked us to teach them some more Romany words.”

Leanne:  “It was cool.  I enjoyed watching the other pupils performing and doing our own bit.  It was scary at first, but when we got into it, it was all right.”

Lucyanne: “I was nervous while other people were speaking, waiting for my turn.

“People at the end talked to us and asked us what our trailers were like inside.”

Chelsea:  “I enjoyed watching the other children, especially Kelly Danter singing a Madonna song.

“I enjoyed the people talking to me at the end.  They said I didn’t look nervous, but I was.  But I would definitely do it again.”

Tyla:  “It was nerve-wracking at the beginning.  But once we got into it, it was all right.  It was fun actually, and exciting.  We enjoyed watching the others doing their turns as well.”

Katie Anne:  “I was nervous because I’d only done the dance in front of people in school before.

“Someone came to talk to us about the Talent Show and asked us how we’d worked out our dance.

“The most important thing was that we did it.”

Faye:  “It was kind of fun once we’d put our minds to it.”
