EAL Co-ordinator at The Catholic School of St. Gregory the Great
St Gregory's have responded to the growing number of pupils being admitted with EAL by appointing Pat Janta-Lipinski as EAL Co-ordinator. Pat is an experienced HLTA and will work throughout the school to support English acquisition. Many of the children speak Polish, and Pat, who has family connections in Poland, has signed up for Polish classes at GLOSCAT. She has also attended a recent PDC training course on working with children with EAL in KS1&2. Pat says that she is excited by the challenge and is really looking forward to working with the children and their families!
Sarah Owen, Deputy Head of the Primary EMA Team, is delighted to hear from many schools developing whole school strategies to meet the needs of newly arrived pupils with EAL.
