Ashleworth C. of E. School is a very small rural school which has recently enrolled 12 Traveller pupils. This has increased the school numbers by a third, having a major impact on class size and school resources. Sarah Bunce, the new Headteacher has maintained a very inclusive approach to welcoming the new Traveller pupils to the school, visiting the families in their homes at the Over Site. The school has received training from Elaine Allan - and many parents attended this session.
The school has also planned to receive training about working with Traveller pupils from the Traveller Education Team. The school has also received a high level of support from the Traveller Education Team to ensure that the pupils settle into school quickly and that their educational needs are addressed with specific targeted programmes of work.
