Learning Mentoring

Our mentoring work is now taking on new dimensions and we are delighted to report that the learning mentoring is operating in Brockworth Enterprise, Churchdown, Severn Vale, Beaufort, Barnwood Park and Bishop's College. Last year, Haltia was supporting almost 50 students on a weekly basis. This number was too great and we have now recruited other members of the EMA team to support our Black students in a mentoring capacity.

Each pupil has an individual support agreement with specific targets, areas of action and reviews. The aim is to unlock their academic potential whilst also enhancing their own cultural awareness, developing their individual aspirations and addressing issues of self-esteem.

In tandem with this, mentors from the Black Forum continue to support targeted pupils and, more recently, we have recruited 6 mentors from secondary schools and the University of Gloucestershire to mentor 9 pupils in 3 different primary schools.
