Roma Youth Forum

This year at Bishops College we have engaged in a new initiative with our Eastern European Roma pupils. Each week we meet after the school day and discuss cultural issues. From such discussions the "Youth Voice" is now working on a play incorporating their cultural traditions (music, arts, drama, costume etc). The theme is loosely based on Romeo and Juliet whereby two people from different cultures fall in love and are faced with conflict, fear, hope and harmony. This initiative is being supported by Sam Ethridge from GLOSS and we are delighted to have two professionals working with the students each week, Jo Blousefield is a drama director and producer and Pete Rossiter is an incredibly talented professional musician. The pupils have now attended several sessions and have already learnt a great deal. We wish them well!
