Muhibur Rahman is one of the most successful businessmen in Gloucestershire. Muhibur's father was a businessman in Singapore. His name was Hafuzur Rahman and he came to England in 1965, at first working in a factory. Later in 1970, he brought his son Muhibur Rahman to this country. Just thirteen years old, Muhibur went to secondary school in Birmingham and Oxford. He continued his studies in accounting at R. R. College in London and started working at the age of seventeen.

In 1976 he started his own business in the catering trade acquiring a restaurant, along with his partner Dewan Alam Noor Raja, the grandson of Sylhet's famous poet Hason Raja. Muhibur said he would always find time to study in between working.
He married in 1980, wife his wife was coming from Sylhet. They have four sons all of whom are currently studying. In 1985, Rahman became the owner of another restaurant in Brighton. His partner the poet Liaquat Ali Khan named the restaurant 'Nirupoma Tandoori'.

It was 1985 when Rahman decided to move to Gloucester. He became an active member in the community and quickly became known as a successful businessman. He has now, three restaurants and two takeaways and lives with his family in Nailsworth. As well as having an active role in the community, Rahman is also an active member of the Labour Party. He is currently the vice-chairman of Nailsworth and Minchinhampton Labour Party. This is not really surprising as Rahman came from a political background. His father had a successful political life. He also had close contact with Sheik Mujibar Rahman.

He is also a poet. Writing in both Bengali and English. He has written poems in both 'The Citizen' and 'Jonomot' a weekly Bengali newspaper published in London. In Bangladesh his poetry can be purchased on audio cassette.
