This is the last in a series of three award winning books
which set out to explore, for the first time, the history and settlement
of the African
Caribbean, Chinese and Asian Communities in Gloucestershire.
The term 'Asian' refers to a diversity of cultures and religions. Pakistani,
Indian and Bangladeshi nationalities exist in Gloucetsershire following
religions such as Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism.
In the first project of its kind for the Asian community in Gloucestershire,
multilingual researchers interviewed community members and the stories
of people whose culture, religion, customs, language and taste for food
was totally different from the host community.
Now the text and images from the book are brought to a wider audience
through the iRespect website.
In addition we we have added new lesson plans for use
at KS2 and KS3. We
hope teachers and pupils find this a most valuable resource. |
