Primary National Strategy: Learning and teaching for bi-lingual children in the primary years

This publication and associated materials aims to support schools and settings in promoting the progress and achievement of all learners, with a particular focus on advanced learners of English as an additional language. It is underpinned by the three principles of the National Curriculum inclusion statement:

  • Setting suitable learning challenges
  • Responding to pupils' diverse learning needs
  • Overcoming potential barriers to learning and assessment for individuals and groups of pupils
