INTRODUCTION

This module is on Disability and Diversity. At the moment, we have just one KS3 lesson and a homework here – but we hope to see this grow with contributions from schools.

Gloucestershire County Council has set up a Disability Network for its staff and Chief Executive, Joyce Redfearn, has said that

“We celebrate diversity within our workforce and recognise the very many benefits that it brings. The greatest barriers to achievement for people with disabilities are the limitations placed upon them by the physical environment around them, and the attitudes of other people.”

Objective: To understand the contribution that disabled people can make to our lives.

Starter: Ask the class to individually list all the disabilities that they can think of. Put list on board.

• Lesson 1 - Understanding the contribution that disabled people can make to our lives.
• Homework 1 - Equal opportunities for diabled students.
