The iRespect website involves 3 key themes:

Positive Tolerance, Cultural Diversity and Active Citizenship

This section of the site contains high quality teaching and learning materials for use in Citizenship, History, English, RS and PSHE lessons, in particular.

All areas of the curriculum can contribute to our 3 key themes.

• Many of the lesson plans and activities have been written with cross-curricular thinking skills in mind. The site is in line with the most modern and progressive strands of the Transforming Learning in the Foundation Subjects Strategy.

Developing a Learning Community for the teaching of citizenship

• Much of the site contains materials with a local Gloucestershire flavour and we hope that all of our county’s schools will use this site. We want it to be seen as a national – indeed international – beacon of excellence. Thus, the site is dynamic in intent.
• We encourage teachers to send in their ideas, activities, lesson plans, modifications, constructive criticisms, suggestions etc. see the feedback page. We also want to see examples of students’ work sent in as exemplars.
• In short, we want to create an electronic community of teachers and learners dedicated to our 3 key themes. We want as many people to be involved as possible, and that, dear reader, means YOU!
